We are pleased to announce the birth of our fourth child and third daughter, Monica Evelynn Ives! She was born at 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, weighing 7 lbs., 4 oz., and a length of 20 1/2 in. We named her
Monica after the godly mother of Augustine, the famous Church theologian and apologist of the 5th century. In her praise, Augustine wrote of her, “she brought me forth both in the flesh that I might be born in this temporal light, and in her heart that I might be born in the light of eternity.” Evelynn is a hybrid of the middle names of our mothers – Joan Evelyn Ives and Debora Lynn Myers.
As many of you know, this pregnancy was somewhat of an ordeal. Aubrey
had developed some problems with blood clots early on in the pregnancy and her body just took more of a toll on this one. Further, we learned a few weeks ago that the baby was breach and that they were going to have to perform a c-section. But God wonderfully answered the prayers of many, and the baby turned upside down a week ago. Aubrey’s doctor was shocked.
We went into the hospital on the Lord’s day evening in preparation for Aubrey’s inducement. Since her body was not ready, they first had to use some oral medicine and then later on a manual measure to help open the cervix. It took some time to get her blood’s coagulability to an adequate level for the Petosin, and then another several hours after that for the epidural. Aubrey hadn’t had one for the first three pregnancies; but since thi
s one was rough all round, she opted for it. We were getting a bit anxious that she would have to plough through the labor without it, with successive bloodwork results not quite on target. As I understand, inducement can make labor even more rigorous. So she was quite relieved at about 10 p.m. when they gave the green light, and the medicine kicked in shortly thereafter. It was only a couple hours after that when she felt the urge to push – and then just minutes until little Monica made her grand debut.
For those of you who encouraged us and prayed for us, we thank you. And ultimately, we express our deepest gratitude to Him who has blessed us with this little gift, another “daughter of Zion.”
Congratulations!
I awoke early this morning and the Lord brought you to mind. Little did I know, I was praying and little Monica was coming into the world. So grateful to hear everything went so smoothly.
Oh, she is so precious! Congrats, guys. She’s such an answer to our prayers. And yes, I’m available for babysitting — immediately! :0)
Congratulations! We are so happy for you and thanks for all the details. Can’t wait to see her.
Soo exciting! Welcome and cuddles to Monica Evelynn! Much love to you all, and kisses to Gabriel, Geneva and Anastasia.
Dear Ives,
We are so delighted for you!!! Susan C. had given us a heads up since she was keeping young Ives ladies; so we were praying. I’m so relieved she was able to be helped by meds and that the baby was healthy. Everyone here is so happy for you, and we love the name. May she grow up to be a godly prayer warrior like Augustine’s mother! We hope to see you in a couple weeks.
Love and prayers,
Barby, for the Mourings

We will continue to pray for you! Greetings from Peter and Johannah!

Delighted congratulations from the Moores at GCBC!
What a wonderful testimony to God’s goodness that the baby turned at such a late date! I was in tears as I read about it.
Hugs to momma and baby from all of us!
Congratulations! So glad to hear that all is well. Way to go Aubrey and Mike. I love the name. Monica is one of my favorites. Can’t wait to see her. Love, Aunt Marsha
Congrats…I wish it didn’t have to be so long until I get to see my new niece. Let her know everyday that her Auntie Becca loves her!
What wonderful news that we received from Joan and Kathy today, since we hadn’t gotten to the computer. Congratulations to Michael, Aubrey and family and God bless our newest addition, Monica Evelynn. Dawn’s thoughtful observation about the recent birth of only girls made us think about the trend of girls with Grandpa and Grandma’s first grandchildren: Dawn Hannah, Heidi Sarah, Teresa Ming-Si, Jessica Laurel, and Anna Laura. Then Michael Joel was born and the boys gained equal ground! So don’t give up GREAT GRANDCHILDREN!
Love Grandvel, Patrick, and Sandra
Praise God for the safe delivery of your new treasure. Of all of our children, Emma has been most faithful to pray for Aubrey and your baby, so she was happy to see the pictures and declares Monica to be a “pretty name.” We’ll continue to pray for you all with the transition of a new family member and a quick recovery for Aubrey. Hugs to all of you!
What a gift from the Most High!!
Congratulations on the newest addition to your family.

We rejoice with you all! What a precious gift and we’re so happy to hear the news that all went well. + We shall continue to keep you all in our prayers.
